PLEASE how do I verify my mom that I requirement help? and to go wager if I hit bipolar modify without her freaking discover and sending me to the phsyco ward?
get your meds refilled and start taking them again -the risks of nonmedically supervised withdrawal are dangerous and can include death. without giving yourself a label, talk to your mother and doctor about counseling with a pyschologist who’s degree level is at least at a Master’s level -this will ensure that you have a therapist who has been trained over many years. take control of your own life as you’ll be a legal adult in less than a year.
Can you tell her part of what’s been going on, but not all of it? If you tell her that you think you really need to see a doctor, she’d be an idiot not to take you–but you don’t have to tell her about every single thing that’s related to it. Once you get to the doctor you should be able to just talk to the doctor about it without having your mom have to know everything.
Good job getting yourself to the doctor! That’s a really good thing to do, and hopefully there should be a way to get yourself there without your mom completely freaking out.
If you had bipolar, you wouldn’t be on meds for just depression. And if you were bipolar, the depression meds would have made you manic. You said the meds worked, which means you’re probably not bipolar.
Don’t self-diagnose. That’s a dangerous game to play and there is nothing “cool” about being bipolar. Everyone likes to call themselves bipolar it seems.
If your depression meds worked, GET MORE OF THEM. It’s very simple. You don’t need to go to psych ward or get evaluated for bipolar. You don’t have it. You’re depressed and you found meds that worked. Take them.
tell her you just want help and your not sure about anytihing and ask her that it isnt a big deal you just want to be sure. im possitive she wont send you to a mental place. shes your mom, and that would be the last thing on her mind about it , literally. a parent would do anything for something like that if they had other options rather than sending there son/daughter there.
i have a easy way to tell your mom. call her into the room. say mom can you please read this with an open mind.
have her read what you just wrote us. if you were on meds you need to get them refilled asap. it is very dangerous to stop meds ” cold turkey”
good luck i know it is hard.
I have been diagnosed with Bipolar for a long time . I did’t start really treating it until after 30. But b4 that I was a walking mass of anger and irritablity . People prob will say it’s cause your 17 ( which some of it is) but if you acted on suicidal thoughts you need a professional. Try to tell your Mom in an easy non confrontatinal way. She may be upset and shocked but she’ll see there is life with BP. 50% of it medication and 50 % is behavioral stuff . Don’t think meds will cure it all like I did . put myselft thru 2 or 3 years of grief . Hang in there.
Um — why didn’t you continue with your antidepressants if they were working? It seems to me that if the antidepressants help that you may just have depression — being depressed can make you angry too.
If you’ve had suicide attempts before, your mom must know about them. Just tell her you’re having scarey thoughts and you want to talk to someone. If you tell someone you’re having thoughts you probably won’t get sent to a psych ward, but if you act on them and survive — really, do survive, please — you may have fewer choices than you do now.
So could you go back to whoever you saw before? Do you have to have your mom involved to pay copays, or what? In our state you can make your own decisions about mental health when you’re 13. Take care; you’re worth it.
