I suggest you get a diagnosis. The symptoms are kind of blurry.

He needs help immediately. Protect children from this raging abuse. He needs meds and therapy attention.
There seems to be stress from a new marriage, the trauma of the miscarriage, and a history of bipolar. But that is no excuse for going off. Do not let this behavior continue. Talk to his family about possible support of this issue. If you feel comfortable, tell them about your concerns.
If he rejects help, I would definitely leave.

From the description above your husband’s symptoms are suggestive of Bipolar Disorder. However, there are several possible explanations and without a full diagnostic screening from a mental health professional it is impossible to give a completely accurate diagnosis.
A review of the diagnostic criteria would suggest that episodes of anger are not related to bipolar. However, a review of recent literature would suggest that episodes of anger may in fact be associated with Major Depressive Disorder and Bipolar Disorder. In either case the outbursts are not a healthy family environment and help from a mental health professional and/or family counselor would most likely be beneficial for everyone.
